Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice: Bringing the Dead Guy to Broadway

Broadway is rumored to be bringing back the "deadest guy in the room", with "Beetlejuice" conceived as a musical. In the 1980s, Tim Burton brought the title character Beetlejuice to life as Michael Keaton created an iconic villain. Fans have been hoping for a sequel all these years, but they may have to find solace in this new rendition of a dark-comedy classic.

Casting has been under wraps as the director, Alex Timbers, looks for the two main characters. Beetlejuice was read by Christopher Fitzgerald in past auditions, whose Tony award nominations make him a favorite to clinch the role shortly. He was nominated in the past for "Waitress," "Finian's Rainbow" and "Young Frankenstein." As far as the media is aware, no other major stars have read this part.

The daughter in "Beetlejuice," Lydia Deetz, hasn't been cast either. Winona Ryder brilliantly portrayed Lydia in the movie, so this role is expected to be a popular one during auditions.

Because this movie was never a musical on the big screen, the Broadway creators are looking to an Australian musician for the score. Eddie Perfect is known for his acting down under, but he's a talented musician in his own right. The accompanying script was written by Anthony King and Scott Brown. With witty dialogue and catchy music to tap your feet to, "Beetlejuice" may be a thrill for a minute.

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures is wholly in charge of this production, so there's no word yet on dates, casting, or theater selections. This play might be in development throughout 2017, but it's not impossible for it to possibly premiere sometime next year.

Certain challenges remain with the production because of the supernatural elements that are so well-known in the movie. Creating the Beetlejuice world and switching between spiritual planes will be awesome to see as the creators nail down their vision. "Beetlejuice" on Broadway is poised to be a phenomenon when dedicated people create the world that everyone fell in love with during the 1980s.

Bringing Back a Classic: 'The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas' Returning to Broadway?

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is one of those plays that just sticks in your mind as a classic. In fact, it hit Broadway in 1978, when stories of brothels and prostitution were still taboo subjects. This play is slated to return to Broadway with some of the top stars in the industry attached to it. No one can resist the charm of Gilbert, Texas, ladies.

It's rumored that Kristin Chenoweth will play the lead, Mona Stangley, who's inherited the Texas whorehouse. She runs her business and girls like a professional, but trouble is on the horizon. A reporter, Melvin P. Thorpe, who dogs Miss Mona for her illegal trappings may be played by Christopher Sieber. A major cast of characters that covers the brothel's employees, neighborhood visitors, and the sheriff should all be part of this revival.

As of yet, there are no dates scheduled for the Chicken Ranch to appear on Broadway. However, there's a push from the play's fans and creators that may create a buzz unlike any other in the past. Kristin Chenoweth is a Broadway heavyweight who can definitely breathe life into Miss Mona. She might remind Broadway lovers of Dolly Parton, who was the screen star of this same production.

The Carol Hall score is what drew Chenoweth to the role. Because of her popularity with the stage show, Wicked, Chenoweth would love to see this classic come alive with her distinct vocals. There are more than a dozen songs that she can sink her teeth into as the cast belts out all of the favorites. It's simply a matter of time, scheduling, and organization.

Inevitably, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas will be back on Broadway soon. Fans should keep up their enthusiasm as the producers continue to shop the idea around to various theaters.
